Train delays and cancellations affecting travellers this morning

A number of trains have been cancelled or delayed this morning on different routes due to problems across the network. Overrunning engineering works are cancelling trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street with signalling faults affecting services between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe to Wales.

Northern, TransPennine Express, and Transport for Wales services between Manchester and Liverpool are being cancelled or delayed due to overrunning engineering works, according to National Rail Enquiries. The work between Patricroft and Broad Green means some lines are blocked.

Trains are being cancelled, diverted, and delayed, with this disruption expected to last through to the afternoon. Road replacement services are being put in place with Northern tickets being accepted on TransPennine services going via Warrington Central. Newton-Le-Willows and Lea Green are not being served.

Disruption to Transport for Wales services between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe is expected to last all day. A fault with the signalling system between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly means Transport for Wales services running between these stations will be cancelled or terminated at and started back from Crewe, according to National Rail Enquiries.

People travelling from Manchester to Cardiff will either have to get another service to Crewe to change or travel via Birmingham.
