SCOTT BURNS: It does. It was a big one and maybe gives him a bit more wriggle room but as a Rangers boss he knows he has to win every game.

FRASER WILSON: Yes. About two days. It was a massive result on the back of a decent win at St Johnstone and has eased the hurricane of flak heading his way. But fail to back it up with a home win over Motherwell tomorrow and that storm will be back.

MICHAEL GANNON: It should do – but this is Scotland and if there are any domestic slip ups the heat will be back on. Beale knows he needs to build a consistent run of form on the home front.

SCOTT: You would have to say that getting out of the groups in the first instance has to be the first ambition. They are well set up to do that with the win over Betis.

FRASER: Why not? That win means things are well and truly in their own hands and I would expect them to qualify. Win the three home games and get one result on the road and it’s home and hosed. Not easy but I can see them reaching the knockout stages then it’s in the lap of the Gods.

MICHAEL: They should get out of the group and after that anything is possible. Rangers’ home record in the Europa League is extraordinary and no side will look forward to coming to Ibrox.

SCOTT: They still have the strongest squad in the league but they need a bit more for the Champions League. They could have done with bringing in more quality in certain positions.

FRASER: When you see the profit margins recorded then yes. They lost key men at the back and up front and while they’ve replaced them in numbers there’s no evidence the quality is there. Too many projects and not enough proven performers brought in.
