England boss Gareth Southgate provides injury update on Manchester United star Marcus Rashford

England manager Gareth Southgate is confident Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford is 'okay' after the forward was substituted in the Three Lions' 2-0 win over Malta.

Rashford came off shortly after the hour mark after a collision left him on the deck. As he left the field, the 26-year-old seemed to be in some pain as Chelsea's Cole Palmer came on for his senior international debut.

Southgate's men went on to win 2-0 thanks to an Enrico Pepe own goal and a Harry Kane effort. However, United fans watching on waited with bated breath for news of an update on their forward.

Southgate seemed confident Rashford was not too severely injured. He told reporters in his post-match press conference: "I think he [Rashford] is probably okay.

"We just thought given the nature of the collision it was a chance to get Cole into the game. I haven’t assessed too much but I think he was okay when he came off."

This news will be music to the ears of Erik ten Hag who will be hoping his injury list does not get any longer during the international break. Should Rashford miss the Reds' first game back against Everton next weekend, options to replace him are limited.

Antony would be the favourite to come in on the right-hand side with Alejandro Garnacho operating on the left flank as he did in the victory over Luton Town. Facundo Pellistri could also be in contention to join the starting XI.

United's Adidas home shirt is made up of the same colour of the city's iconic red rose and features a black collar. The collar also features a dash of both red and white, giving it a slick and modernised look.
