Fulham boss Marco Silva gives verdict on Erik ten Hag ahead of Manchester United clash

Fulham manager Marco Silva is confident Erik ten Hag will come out of this difficult spell at Manchester United in a better position despite the recent start to the season.

MEN Sport revealed on Thursday some members of the first team squad were starting to lose confidence in Ten Hag following recent matches. Last Sunday, the Reds were beaten 3-0 by fierce rivals Manchester City before losing convincingly by the same scoreline to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup.

While Ten Hag's job still appears to be safe at present, pressure is mounting on the Reds ahead of their trip to Craven Cottage tomorrow. When asked about the Dutchman, Silva was complimentary and believes the United man has the experience to deal with this current tricky patch.

"He had a very good impact last season, everyone recognised the impact he made at that football club," Silva explained in his press conference. "Some ups and downs can happen, they didn’t start so well but had a good run.

"As a manager, there is always pressure behind you and when you are in a bigger club the pressure is big. It’s not the first time he is in a big club, he was in a big club [Ajax] in the past as well and he knows how to handle the situation."

Saturday lunchtime will see Silva go up against one of his former players Harry Maguire who he coached at Hull City. Like Ten Hag, the ex-United captain has had to deal with his critics but the 46-year-old spoke highly of the centre-back.

"A top lad, a top player and it’s been difficult for him. But he’s showing how to react," Silva added.
