Manchester United must heed Gary Neville advice with Rasmus Hojlund

Rasmus Hojlund cannot stop scoring for Manchester United in Europe yet, when it comes to the Premier League, the Denmark prospect has still to lace up his shooting boots at all.

It was always going to be difficult for Hojlund to hit the ground running after his £72million transfer from Atalanta this summer, even without the outside pressures that were placed upon his young, broad shoulders. He was sworn in to replace none other than Cristiano Ronaldo and signed after a short-lived pursuit for Harry Kane.

The reality is United never really went anywhere with their interest in the England captain and had they firmed up their momentary plans to sign him, Tottenham might not have done business anyway. A new start for Kane abroad always seemed the most likely scenario and so it proved when Bayern Munich came calling.

Kane continues to score goals galore in the Bundesliga and Ronaldo - in the twilight of his astonishing career - hasn't lost his goal touch either, albeit on the less competitive Saudi Arabian stage. United and their supporters have been rational when it comes to initial expectations for Hojlund, but they can still play a part.

If it wasn't tough enough for the 20-year-old to pick up where Ronaldo left off and give them what they would've no doubt got from Kane had he pitched up at Old Trafford rather than the German champions, Hojlund too has had to shoulder unfair comparisons with Manchester City sensation Erling Haaland across the road.
