Hamilton Accies goalkeeper Ryan Fulton in injury boost after broken arm fears

Hamilton Accies goalkeeper Ryan Fulton received some good news last week after it transpired he did not break his arm in the defeat to Falkirk.

Fulton was forced off at half-time in the 3-1 defeat on December 16 after clattering into a Falkirk player in the opening 45 minutes.

Boss John Rankin said the initial feeling was the player had fractured his arm, but a trip to hospital revealed there is no break.

Fulton is not out of the woods yet though as a secondary scan is required to assess if there is any muscular damage and the club face a waiting game on that

Rankin said: “Fults got an X-ray and it was clear.

“He got a scan as well and needs to go for a second one this week.

“We will need to wait on the medical team and the radiologist to gives us feedback on that, and the holiday period will delay things a bit as well.

“It is not a break, obviously, which is good but whether it is muscular we don’t know yet. We’ll find out about that soon.”

Skipper Scott Martin is also in the dark about his hamstring issue, which forced him off midway through the first half of the Falkirk game, and he could be required to go under the knife to resolve it.

Rankin added: “Scotty has got an appointment with a surgeon to see how he is looking.

“He may well need surgery, but because of the holiday period, again, we will need to see where we are on that.”

Whatever the extent of the injuries to Fulton and Martin, they will both be sidelined for an extended period and it could force Accies to dip into the transfer market next month.
