Hamilton Accies can pip Falkirk to League One title, there's a long way to go, says star

Hamilton Accies striker Kevin O’Hara says there’s a long way to go in the League One title race, and his side can still pip Falkirk to the crown.

O’Hara bagged his 11th goal of the season in a 2-0 win over Cove Rangers, while leaders Falkirk snatched a last-gasp 2-2 comeback draw at bottom side Edinburgh City – having been 2-0 down – to stay nine points ahead.

Hamilton have a game in hand over the Bairns, which will be played at Stirling Albion on Saturday, and O’Hara says they just need to keep going.

He said: “It’s good to be up at the top end of the table.

“We have a long way to go to try and catch Falkirk, but we’ve just got to take each game as it comes, focus on ourselves.

“The only thing we can do is win, and if Falkirk drop points along the way, then when we play against them we need to try and win those games.

“But we need to focus on ourselves.

“It’s still January. We need to focus on our performances and our results – that’s all we can do, and by the time May comes, we’ll see what happens.

“We can’t look too far ahead.

“We’ve got Falkirk to play twice, we’ve got a game in hand, so there are plenty of games to go and plenty of points to play for.

“We’ll just take each game as it comes and see where we are, come the end of the season.

“We want to win that game in hand, and hopefully we can do that.

“It will be a tough game, Stirling Albion are still a good side, even though it might not show it on the league table.

“It will be difficult, and we will need to be at it.”

O’Hara put Hamilton ahead in seven minutes and Accies passed up a few good chances to add to that, before Ben Williamson was shown a straight red card on his debut for a challenge on Cove’s Kyle Connell.
