Stirling Albion new boy insists there's more to come ahead of bumper clash with Hamilton Accies

Callum Crane knows his Stirling Albion debut had everything – but he insisted there’s more to come from his new side as they started 2024 with a bang.

The Binos racked up an important three points on the road at Montrose last weekend in their first action of the New Year, a result which pulls them further clear of danger.

It was an impressive start for Crane in front of the sizeable Binos faithful at Links Park and his fine goal seemed a fitting reward for an energetic performance in the Stirling engine room.

But a 79th minute red card for a high challenge on Montrose youngster Harry Craig threatened to blot the copybook on the afternoon as the Binos survived a late wave of Gable Endies pressure.

It also means Crane faces the prospect of a possible two-match ban as Stirling face two games in a busy week, starting with the visit of second-placed Hamilton Accies to Forthbank tomorrow.

However, Crane believes the Binos squad is picking up steam at just the right time.

The 27-year-old said: “It was a bit of two tales for sure – you get a goal which eventually wins us the game but get sent off which I felt was harsh.

“I jumped for the ball going for a header, the little man ducks and collides with my knee and the referee thinks I’ve done it on purpose and sends me off.

“The gaffer mentioned to me on Thursday at training that I might be going in centre mid, I played there all last season for Edinburgh and played there at the start of this season as well, so I was no stranger to it and felt comfortable today.

“I’m delighted to be part of the reason we won, but gutted on the other side that I might miss the next couple of weeks.
