Hamilton 2 Airdrie 2: Hibs loanee nets late leveller as Accies let two-goal lead slip in derby

Airdrie mounted a dramatic late comeback to end their losing streak and snatch a point off Hamilton Accies in an entertaining Lanarkshire derby.

Oli Shaw looked to have fired Hamilton Accies to succes after netting a second half double that had them 2-0 up and crusing with 80 minutes on the clock.

However, Airdrie's substitutes paid off with two goals in the space of seven minutes late on. First, Aaron Reid pulled one back just seconds after coming off the bench in the 80th minute with a powerful header.

And then Hibs loanee Murray Aiken sent the travelling support wild in the 87th minute when he fired home inside the box at the second attempt.

It stopped the rot for Airdrie, who had lost three straight games in all competitions going into the match, and lifts them up to seventh in the table, while Accies sit fourth.

Accies made one change from last week's narrow win over Dunfermline, as Ben Williamson dropped out to be replaced by Euan Henderson, with former Diamond Nikolay Todorov among the Accies substitutes. Airdrie named the same side that lost to Queen's Park at New Broomfield the previous week.

Inside the first 60 seconds space opened up for Jamie Barjonas to try his luck from range, but he fired over from a central position in an early warning to the visitors.

Down the other end, Airdrie skipper Adam Frizzell cut inside and curled an effort with from 18-yards as the visitors got their first clear sight at goal after eight minutes.

In 10 minutes Accies almost broke the deadlock. They worked a short corner to the feet of Euan Henderson inside the box and when he teed up Oli Shaw for a strike, the forward's powerful drive was tipped over the top superbly by Murray Johnson to deny the hosts.
