Floyd Mayweather told 'stop embarrassing yourself' after latest boxing exhibition farce with mafia bosses' grandson

Oscar De La Hoya has let rip at former boxing rival Floyd Mayweather Jr after the American superstar's latest exhibition bout.

Since hanging up gloves in the professional field in 2017, the five-weight world champion has taken part in a series of boxing exhibition fights against Youtubers and social media personalities including Logan Paul and former Geordie Shore contestant Aaron Chalmers. In his latest event, the 47-year-old faced with John Gotti III - grandson of infamous Mafia boss John Gotti - for the second time in Mexico City last weekend. The build-up to their first meeting was overshadowed by a mass brawl and last Saturday's bout was also marred with controversy after Mayweather bizarrely had the referee replaced during the contest.

De La Hoya - who was defeated by Mayweather in a mega showdown for the WBC light-middleweight world title in 2007 - has told his former opponent to "stop embarrassing yourself", also describing the exhibition with Gotti III as a "s*** show". Speaking in a video on his Instagram as part of his weekly 'Clap-back' series where he discusses the biggest talking points in the sport, he said: "Floyd Mayweather fought in another exhibition against Gotti on Saturday. A real s*** show that left the crowd booing at the end.

"But in the middle of the second round, Floyd literally had the referee swapped out. He didn’t like that the referee told him to stop hitting behind the head. Floyd is used to getting away with whatever he wants and he wasn’t getting away with it this time.

"It was so embarrassing. Floyd, you're 50 years old, you’re a legend of the sport. I’ve stood up for you in countless interviews, including Shannon Sharpe’s podcast last week but you have to stop embarrassing yourself
