Hamilton 1, Edinburgh City 1: City hold Accies after defensive howler

Hamilton Accies' unbeaten run was stretched to 17 games, but they had to settle for a point against stubborn League One basement side Edinburgh City.

The result drops Accies two points behind leaders Falkirk, while for City, it's their third draw of the campaign.

Kyle MacDonald got Accies off the mark in 35 minutes and it was no more than the hosts deserved, for a dominating attacking performance.

Kevin O'Hara, Reghan Tumilty and Jamie Barjionas all went close before .MacDonald struck his fourth goal of the season.

City had a good chance through Robbie Mahon but didn't offer much else in the first half, though they were happy to throw it about a bit.

Hamilton should have been two or three goals up, and they were made to pay for that when Ryan Shanley levelled in 52 minutes with an easy tap-in, after Accies repeatedly failed to clear their lines in the box.

The game fell flat after that, and Hamilton didn't offer too much, while City could have taken the lead.

Hamilton boss John Rankin made six changes to the side that beat East Kilbride 5-2 in the SPFL Trust Trophy last weekend. Reghan Tumilty, Dylan McGowan, Euan Henderson, Dylan Tait, Scott Martin and Kevin O'Hara came back in.

City gaffer Michael McIndoe made five changes to the side that lost 4-1 to Kelty Hearts last time out on October 7. Ben Stirling, Callum Crane, Innes Murray, Robbie Mahon and Kieran Offord came in for Kieran MacDonald, Kyle Jacobs, Lewis Spence, Jack Wilkie and Danny Handling.
