Ten-try Ireland smash Colombia to record second WXV win

Ireland 64-3 Colombia

Ireland made it two wins in a row in the WXV3 with a 64-3 victory over Colombia in Dubai.

It was another routine victory for Scott Bemand's side after last weekend's rout of Kazakhstan.

Tries from player of the match Neve Jones, Natasja Behan, Grace Moore, Maebh Deely, Brittany Hogan and Edel McMahon, and four conversions by Dannah O'Brien, had Ireland out of sight by the break with a 38-0 lead.

Béibhinn Parsons and Jones crossed early in the second half and O'Brien, a late replacement for Nicole Fowley, added another conversion to break the 50-point mark before a spell of pressure close to the Irish line led to Maria Arzuaga getting Colombia's only score of the game with a penalty.

Parsons grabbed her 14th international try with ten minutes remaining and Leah Tarpey ran in Ireland's tenth with Deely converting both.

Fiona Tuite and Clara Barrett made their debuts for Ireland in the second half.

Ireland's final game is against Spain, who have beaten Fiji and Kenya, next weekend where a win would mean promotion to the second tier of the competition, which is in its inaugural year.

Ireland: Méabh Deely, Béibhinn Parsons, Eve Higgins, Aoife Dalton, Natasja Behan, Dannah O'Brien, Aoibheann Reilly, Linda Djougang, Neve Jones, Christy Haney, Eimear Corri, Sam Monaghan, Grace Moore, Edel McMahon, Brittany Hogan.

Replacements: Sarah Delaney, Niamh O'Dowd, Sadhbh McGrath, Fiona Tuite, Dorothy Wall, Molly Scuffil-McCabe, Clara Barrett, Leah Tarpey.
