‘Gutted’ – Departing West Brom player issues emotional message

West Bromwich Albion have received a heartwarming farewell from Robert Snodgrass, with the player outlining how he’s ‘gutted’ to be moving on after a tough couple of months.

Snodgrass’ contract at the Hawthorns was cancelled by mutual agreement last night, offering the winger the opportunity to find a new club in the coming months.

In reaction to moving on from West Brom, Snodgrass took to Instagram, where he bid farewell to a host of people, before outlining his wish to see the Baggies back in the top-flight.

The 34-year-old made only seven appearances this season under Valerien Ismael, finding himself down the pecking order at the Championship club.

It was Sam Allardyce who brought Snodgrass to the club in 2021, signing the Scot as he looked to shape a squad capable of beating relegation in the Premier League.

He made eight appearances in the top-flight last season, featuring in win over Wolves and draw with Manchester United.

Snodgrass departs with West Brom faltering in the race for promotion and pressure building on Ismael.

A 2-0 loss to Millwall over the weekend left the Baggies fifth, with the chasing pack closing in on them and having games in-hand.

The Verdict

Snodgrass came in with the remit of helping West Brom stay in the Premier League and has subsequently stayed into a new regime back in the Championship.

Unfortunately for him, he’s not quite fit under Ismael.

However, the club have managed to strike an agreement with him to free him up to find a new club.

They didn’t have to do that and Snodgrass could’ve dug his heels in and stayed, but it’s a sign of the respect that the pair have for each other that they’ve come to this decision.
