Sheyi Ojo delivers injury update ahead of Millwall’s clash with Preston North End

Millwall winger Sheyi Ojo has revealed on Instagram that he will not need to undergo an operation on his current injury.

Ojo has been forced to watch on from the sidelines since sustaining an ankle injury during the club’s clash with Nottingham Forest last month.

In the winger’s absence, Millwall suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Blackpool before sealing a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion last weekend.

Goals from Mason Bennett and Benik Afobe secured all three points for the Lions in this particular fixture.

Millwall will now be looking to back up this display by producing a positive performance in their showdown with Preston North End this evening.

A victory for the Lions at the Den will allow them to leapfrog their opponents in the Championship standings.

Whilst Ojo is not expected to feature for Millwall until April, he has revealed that he is set to stay with the Championship outfit for his rehabilitation instead of returning to his parent-club Liverpool.

Ahead of the Lions’ meeting with Preston, Ojo has shared an update on his injury status on Instagram.

The 24-year-old posted: “Decided to do my rehab at Millwall so I’m still connected to the team for when I’m back for the final push!

“No operation needed, another day closer.”

The Verdict

Given that Ojo is expected to feature again for Millwall this season, it may turn out to be a wise decision by the winger to stay at The Den instead of returning to Liverpool as he will be able to feel more involved at the club.

Before suffering his injury, the winger showed glimpses of his talent in the second-tier as he provided two assists at this level in 16 appearances.
