Gridlock in Cardiff city centre as 'heavy congestion' brings traffic to standstill - live updates
Several roads around Cardiff city centre are gridlocked this afternoon as heavy traffic plagues the city. It is not known what is causing the heavy traffic but roadworks around Adam Street near HMP Cardiff appear to be causing the majority of the issues.
Live traffic maps show that almost all of the main routes around the centre and slow, including Duke Street, Newport Road, Fitzalan Place and Central Link to Cardiff Bay. Photos show long queues of back to back traffic in these areas.
Cardiff Bus said on social media that one of their routes had been altered due to the congestion. They said: "Due to heavy congestion all services that use Richmond Road inbound to town will use City Road until further notice." Join our WhatsApp news community here for the latest breaking news
