Greater Manchester weekend weather forecast as sunshine set to make way for rain on Sunday

It has been a week of sunshine and warm weather in Greater Manchester We've have enjoyed what could well be the last bit of decent weather for a while.

Highs of 29C were recorded in the region as thousands took to parks and pubs to soak up the late summer sun and top up their tan. For those who aren't ready to say goodbye to summer just yet, there is good news - with forecasters predicting more sunshine over the weekend.

Saturday is set to be a beautiful, hot day, continuing in the same vein as much of this week. However, we will also start to see some rain moving in towards the end of the weekend as temperatures cool, according to the Met Office.

The weekend will get off to a promising start, with warm temperatures from the off and some early cloud shifting by the afternoon. Forecasters say temperatures will hit 21C by 10am, with highs of 28C expected by around 4pm. It will be a sunny evening and a warm night.

Saturday is set to be the best day of the weekend, with clear skies and brilliant sunshine from 10am. Forecasters predict highs of 28C, and say the day should be 'mostly dry' with a small chance of a heavy and thundery afternoon shower.

Chances of showers will increase from Sunday morning. The Met Office says Manchester should see a mostly dry morning, with showers likely in the afternoon. It will still be warm, with highs of 26C.
