Returning Son Tony Wallace has goal target in mind ahead of new League Two season

Returning Son Tony Wallace has his sights set on hitting the net regularly - as he targets a promotion double with Dumbarton.

The attacking midfielder, 32, was a key player for Annan Athletic as they won promotion from League Two for the first time in the club’s history last season.

However the Dumbarton local has now returned to the club where he started his career, scoring against Dundee last week - as well as netting the winner against Championship Inverness and the winning penalty in a shootout triumph against Bonnyrigg Rose.

And he’s now fully focused on finding the form that saw him become a regular scorer during his time at Galabank.

Tony told the Lennox: “At the start of every season I set myself the target of scoring double figures.

“Up until last season I’d scored double figures pretty much every season I’d been at Annan.

“That’s my target all the time. The sooner I get off the mark the easier it becomes.

“Double figures always has to be the first target.

“It’s going to be hard for the strikers to keep the club going all the way through; midfielders like myself need to do our bit.

“With the way the team is playing I should be aiming for double figures.

“It’s always good to get off the mark early in the season. That way you don’t have to add any more pressure to yourself.

“It’ll be the same in the league. The sooner I get that first goal the better.

“The style of play suits me, the high press and getting in people’s faces is what we did at Annan.

“My game is all about getting goals, and I think the new shape suits me and suits the rest of the team. We have good players all over the park.”
