The Royle Family to make comeback with special anniversary episode

Fans of The Royle Family will be treated to a brand new episode as the series celebrates its 25th anniversary.

The much-loved sitcom will be refreshed with a feature-length documentary that features interviews from cast members such as Craig Cash and the late Caroline Aherne. The Royle Family: Down the Back of the Sofa was originally shown in 2010, however it will now feature additional insights from a number of celeb fans.

Some of those offering their two cents in the episode are Diane Morgan, John Thomson, Rosie Jones, as well as Jamie and Natasia Demertriou. Among those featured also include The Royle Family producer John Rushton, Rachel Fairburn, Shobna Gulati, Jack Rooke, and Sharon Rooney.

Gold commissioning editor Jason Dawson: "A quarter of a century! No date has yet been announced for when the special episode will air, however it has been confirmed that it will air on Gold "later this year".
