Gary Neville admits he's 'worried' by two Manchester United transfer moves

Gary Neville thinks Manchester United would be making a mistake by keeping Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof at the club.

MEN Sport understands Varane feels he is being pushed out of Old Trafford, with the Frenchman now free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs after United opted against triggering the one-year extension in his deal. The former Real Madrid defender will now need to negotiate a new deal on reduced terms should he wish to remain with the Reds, something he is undecided on.

While United have decided not to extend Varane's current contract, it's understood Victor Lindelof has seen the one-year option in his deal triggered. Neville thinks United are making a mistake by extending Lindelof's contract and does not think Varane should be offered fresh terms.

Taking to social media platform X, Neville wrote: "If United are looking to renew Lindelof and Varane (on reduced terms) I’m worried. We have to start afresh as much as possible. Whilst these 2 aren’t bad players by any stretch, a message must be sent to everyone inside and outside of the club that it’s not going to tolerate the levels over the last few years."

Sweden captain Lindelof is currently sidelined through injury after being forced to undergo surgery. Ten Hag revealed shortly before Christmas that Lindelof was not expected back for 'a couple of weeks'.

Varane has also suffered injury problems yet again this term, with the 30-year-old playing in just 11 of United's 20 Premier League games so far.
