Gary Lineker says what all Leicester City fans are thinking in brilliant five-word message

Gary Lineker has sent a message on the sixth anniversary of Leicester City’s unbelievable title win.

It’s six years to the day - May 2, that City were confirmed at Premier League Champions at odds of 5000-1. The achievement was confirmed after Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the famous ‘battle of the Bridge’ game.

Chelsea were 2-0 down at half time, but goals from Gary Cahill and a memorable equaliser from Eden Hazard meant that City were crowned as Champions that night. The result was met with scenes of jubilation from City fans around the globe as the realisation at what had happened struck.

There were also scenes of celebration among the City squad, who had gathered at Jamie Vardy’s house to watch the game. The moment of the full-time whistle was captured by the cameras that were present at the party.

To celebrate the sixth anniversary, City shared the videos on their social media channels, the caption read: “This will never ever grow old. #OnThisDay in 2016, the Foxes squad assembled. You know what happened next…”

City fans have been reminiscing about an unforgettable evening, and in among the tweets marking the anniversary was Gary Lineker. The former City striker summed up the thoughts on most City fans, writing: “My favourite football moment, ever.”

City will look to come close to that moment this week as they aim to make more history for the club. Brendan Rodgers’ men travel to Roma on Thursday in their Europa Conference League semi-final as they look to become the first City squad to make it to the final of a European competition.
