Frank Lampard on management return as Rangers near miss sees Chelsea hero address 'rigours' of dugout

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has confirmed he is actively looking to make a return to management - just six months after he held talks about taking on the Rangers job.

In the wake of Michael Beale's sacking last October, the former midfield maestro held talks with Ibrox bosses after being included on a shortlist of potential candidates to replace fellow Englishman Beale, who lasted less than a year at the helm. However, Lampard, who returned for a brief spell at Chelsea in April three months after getting the sack at Everton, was ruled out of the running before Philippe Clement landed the role with Graeme Souness conceding he would have preferred the England cap yo get the job.

Despite the disappointments in his last two roles, the Stamford Bridge club's all-time leading goalscorer says he is keen to get back into work when the right opportunity comes along. Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: "Yeah, I've been enjoying being with the family but I am looking to get back (into) at some point.

"Hopefully something comes up that feels the right thing for me, I'm keen to get working again but as I reiterate, I am enjoying the [family life]. It's an intense job so when you're out of it, it's nice to appreciate being around all my children, my young children particularly and spending more time with those."

But the 45-year-old insists that the demands placed on managers is does not deter him from staying out of the game. Lampard added: "No, not at all. You love the job, you understand the rigours of it in the modern day, we see it so much."
