Zak Lovelace deals Rangers yet another injury blow as timeline for return revealed

Rangers have been hit with yet another injury set-back after returning youngster Zak Lovelace was told he faces up to two months out.

The ex Millwall kid has only recently hit the comeback trial after he limped off in his big Scottish Premiership chance against St Mirren last October. He was stretched off in Paisley with a hamstring problem after being handed his first start by then-boss Steven Davis - with Ross McCausland climbing off the bench to replace the youngster and kickstart his own first-team ambitions.

Lovelace returned last month when he came off the bench in a Glasgow Cup defeat to Celtic but now the Rangers Review report that the 18-year-old has suffered yet another hamstring problem during the B Team’s midweek defeat to Royal Antwerp and that he he “faces up to two months out of action”.

It couldn’t have come at a worse time for the forward who might have been called into first team action by Philippe Clement due to the Ibrox boss having seen his squad decimated by injuries which led to Lovelace’s fellow Gers youngster Cole McKinnon coming off the bench in the midweek Europa League draw against Benfica in Lisbon.

Back in 2022, Rangers saw off Leicester City and Brighton to seal a move for the highly-rated Lovelace but he has managed just four appearances for the first-team since his arrival with his contract due up in the summer.
