Former teammate gives verdict on Rasmus Hojlund's 'crazy' rise and Manchester United move

Sturm Graz striker William Boving has said the rate at which Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund's career has progressed is "crazy".

Hojlund, 20, joined United in a deal worth £72million last month, ending the club's long-term search for a new goal-getter. He put pen to paper on a long-term deal after sealing a move from Italian outfit Atalanta.

United are Hojlund's fourth club in just three years, following stints at FC Copenhagen, Strum Graz and most recently Atalanta. His career has developed at a rapid rate of knots and he is now looking to put down some roots in England and become a household name in the Premier League.

Hojlund, who made his Reds debut as a second-half substitute against Arsenal almost a fortnight ago, is considered as one of the most promising young players in European football. And for former teammate Boving, who played with the Dane at both Copenhagen and Sturm Graz, his recent rise has been nothing short of impressive.

"It's crazy," Boving told Bold.dk. "It's crazy because there aren't many people who take such a fast path forward, but it's really good, and he's taken the chances he's been given.

"He's a big boy who makes good use of it, so well done him. They are impressed [at Sturm Graz].

"They think it's crazy, because they got a player from FCK who first got his breakthrough in Sturm Graz, and the journey after has been lightning-fast and good."

Hojlund, who featured twice for Denmark in the recent international break, stepping off the bench in both games to help them seal wins over San Marino and Finland, will be looking to make his first start for United when they face Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on
