What Rasmus Hojlund is doing to try and prevent further Manchester United injury issues

Rasmus Hojlund is wearing tape on his back and appears to be undergoing cupping therapy after arriving at Manchester United last month with a back injury.

The Dane signed for United from Atalanta for £72million as Erik ten Hag looked to add more goals to his team. However, Hojlund missed the beginning of the campaign due to an injury he picked up during pre-season with the Italian team.

The 20-year-old made his long-awaited debut for the Reds in the defeat to Arsenal and has played in every game since. Hojlund scored his first goal for the club against Bayern Munich and on Saturday he played a full 90 minutes for the first time in the victory over Burnley.

It was after the match with the Clarets that eagle-eyed United supporters spotted what Hojlund appears to be doing in a bid to avoid further issues with his back. After taking his match shirt off to give to a fan at Turf Moor, a picture was taken of the striker's back.

Along with strapping across his back, fans also spotted dark marks which are often left when someone has had cupping therapy. This treatment is seen as 'alternative medicine' and involves a practitioner placing special cups on your back for a few minutes to create suction.

The aim of the treatment is to ease pain, inflammation and increase blood flow. The tape which was also spotted on Hojlund's back is common practice in elite sport and is used to support muscles during exercise and avoid potential strains.
