Former Nice star Kasper Schmeichel reveals Sir Jim Ratcliffe's plans for Manchester United

Kasper Schmeichel has opened up on the ambition Sir Jim Ratcliffe has for Manchester United.

Investment from the INEOS founder, 71, is still pending. However, that deal is expected to be rubber-stamped imminently as the British billionaire prepares to work alongside the Glazer family.

Anderlecht goalkeeper Schmeichel, whose father Peter was a hugely important figure for United under Sir Alex Ferguson in the 1990s, is no stranger to Old Trafford himself and he progressed through the academy system with neighbours Manchester City.

Schmeichel is best remembered for helping Leicester City to a magical Premier League title win in 2016, while he spent 12 months with Ratcliffe-owned OGC Nice after leaving the Foxes in 2022. That move did not go to plan for the Denmark stopper, but he was mightily thankful to Ratcliffe for the opportunity.

Speaking about the INEOS founder, Schmeichel told Sky Sports: "It was a difficult year [at Nice]. But without Jim, without Dave Brailsford, I wouldn't have been able to get through it.

"They were incredible. So supportive."

Schmeichel, 37, continued: "I know first-hand they have massive ambitions for Manchester United - if they are to get it - and I haven't seen any venture they've turned their hands to and not been successful.

"It's just important that United fans give them time."
