Erik ten Hag told why he should be 'concerned' by Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Manchester United takeover

Dwight Yorke believes the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe at Manchester United should concern Erik ten Hag because INEOS have the right 'to make changes whenever they like'.

The confirmation of Ratcliffe agreeing a deal to acquire a minority stake at Old Trafford came on Christmas Eve and the British billionaire is gaining control over football operations.

Although the deal is still yet to be signed off by the Premier League, United cannot appoint, dismiss, or accept the resignation of any director of football or manager without discussing it with Ratcliffe. He has sacked five managers since taking over French club Nice in the 2019/20 season and although Ten Hag is not under immediate threat, there is recognition that results must improve.

United have crashed out of European competition before Christmas, they are out of the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup is the only viable option for silverware this season.

However, the majority of supporters are still behind Ten Hag and Yorke believes he will have nothing to worry about if results start picking up in the Premier League.

"It doesn't matter what we think, these owners that are coming in, they've got the right to make changes whenever they like. That would be a concern," Yorke told AceOdds.

"I think what Ten Hag needs to do is make sure that he wins football matches. You win football matches and you’ll put yourself in a position where it’s very hard to get rid of you.

"There’s no illusion to it. If you’re going out of the Champions League and all of that, you're seventh in the league and it doesn't look good and teams are kicking on ahead of us, the owners will think about a change.
