Former Manchester United midfielder leaves new club nine days into two-year contract

Former Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has left Konyaspor nine days into a two-year contract.

The Frenchman only joined the Turkish side at the start of August but has already departed. It was confirmed on Thursday that the 33-year-old would leave due to family reasons.

A statement from Konyaspor read: "Professional football player Morgan Schneiderlin, whose transfer we have announced recently, conveyed to our management that he wanted to leave due to family reasons.

"As a result of the consultations and evaluations, our club approached Morgan Schneiderlin's request positively and terminated his contract by mutual agreement."

Schneiderlin had spent the last three years playing in France with Ligue 1 side OG Nice but spent the last six months on loan with Australian side Western Sydney Wanderers.

He joined United from Southampton in 2015, arriving for a fee in the region of £25m. Schneiderlin signed a four-year contract with the option to extend it by a further year, with the midfield ace having played in League One, the Championship and the Premier League for Southampton.

Schneiderlin made a good start to life with the Reds, with United winning 10 of their opening 16 top-flight matches in the 2015/16 campaign - scoring his first goal for the club away at Everton. He went on to make 47 appearances for the club before moving to Goodison Park.
