Manchester United ‘agree’ fee for Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have agreed a £6m fee for the transfer of Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, according to reports.

Erik ten Hag has been searching for a back-up to Andre Onana with Dean Henderson likely to join Nottingham Forest or Crystal Palace on a permanent basis. The England international was involved in United’s pre-season squad but failed to make an appearance.

It means Tom Heaton is the club’s current No.2, although he missed the first two matches of the season through injury. Bayindir has five caps for Turkey and kept 14 clean sheets in 40 outings last season.

The 25-year-old was an unused substitute in Fenerbahce’s last match against FC Twente and appeared to wave goodbye to fans at full-time. The Manchester Evening News understands United were keen for him to complete a medical assessment before agreeing a deal after undergoing back hernia surgery in April.

Now, talkSPORT says Bayindir is set to move to United for £6m and is soon due to fly into Manchester. The shot-stopper arrived at Fenerbahce for £1.3m in 2019.

Meanwhile, Football Insider claims United have asked Wolves about a straight swap deal involving Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Nelson Semedo. Such a switch would come as a surprise given the English right-back has started both of United’s matches this season.

Wan-Bissaka was offered to clubs last summer and missed nearly all of the first half of the campaign. The defender made a stunning comeback after the World Cup break to edge ahead of Diogo Dalot in the pecking order.
