Firefighters tackled house on fire in Cardiff
Emergency services attended a house fire in a suburb in Cardiff. Pictures from the scene on Wednesday (January 17) afternoon showed firefighters focusing on the roof of a property in Trecastle Avenue in Llanishen as smoke billowed into the sky.
The South Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was called to the address at around 3.26pm, with crews from Caerphilly and Cardiff at the scene. South Wales Police said they received a call from the fire service and officers had been deployed. Later, the force confirmed there had been no injuries and all persons had been accounted for, but there was "substantial damage" to the property and neighbouring houses.
At around 5.45pm, the fire service said they were still at the scene and a stop message had not yet been received, but they confirmed the fire had been extinguished. A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said prior to the update at 5.45pm: "SWFRS was called to an address on Trecastle Avenue at approximately 15:26 on Wednesday 17th January. Crews from Caerphilly and Cardiff attended the scene. At present we have no further information."
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "All persons have been accounted for and there are no injuries. There is substantial damage to the property, and neighbouring properties are also damaged."
