Police still hunting 'reckless' gunman and accomplice after shots blasted at house with children inside

A hunt remains underway to find a 'reckless' gunman and his accomplice after shots were blasted at a house in Cheetham Hill with terrified children inside.

Two shots were fired at the property on Hambridge Close just after 9.35pm on Sunday, July 23 last year. Police said previously that four young children were inside at the time, as well as 'innocent members of the public'.

Thankfully, no-one was injured. The shooting was reported to be 'isolated'.

Six months on, no arrests have been made and detectives have today (January 23) issued a fresh appeal for information. Detectives believe that two males were involved in the shooting.

One male pulled out a black handgun and fired the shots, with 'one causing damage inside the property'. The males then made off down a ginnel towards Cheetham Hill Road - one on foot and one on a pedal bike.

As part of their probe, detectives released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to. They urged anyone 'protecting the identities' of the males to come forward.

Detective Inspector Michelle Buchanan of GMP’s City of Manchester North district said: "We are appealing again to the public for any information regarding this incident, if you know who these males are and if you are protecting their identities, now is the time to tell our officers.

"That evening, innocent members of the public, including children, were in the property that these two reckless individuals targeted. There was no consideration and a clear intention to hurt whoever they wanted to target.
