Experts issue warning to 'never' do this when cleaning your air fryer - could be dangerous

In recent years the air fryer has quickly become one of the UK’s favourite kitchen appliances. Offering a convenient way to cook without the need for oil, they can be a quick and healthy option for preparing meals.

But as is the case with any appliance they come with instructions on how to safely use them. Electrical Safety First, a charity dedicated to reducing the number of injuries and deaths caused by electricity across the UK, warned that a certain cleaning method could be risky when it comes to the air fryer.

On its website, Electrical Safety First urged people to “never” immerse the fryer in water. This could prove extremely dangerous due to the potential mixing of water and electricity. It could also be damaging to the machine itself. In fact, Electrical Safety First advises waiting “at least” 30 minutes to clean your air fryer after use.
