'I've made £2,000 on Vinted - these simple tricks helped me do it'

A man who made £2,000 selling his unwanted items on Vinted has shared his top tips and tricks.

Tom Roberts, 26, decided to start flogging his designer items online to help pay for his upcoming wedding.

The journalism student, who lives in Newton-le-Willows, chose Vinted as his app of choice due to the platform having no selling fees. He started listing his items in 2022.

Initially selling just bags and shoes, Tom quickly realised there was a market for all clothing – even the ones he didn’t think anyone would want.

Having since made £2,000 on the app, he’s now shared his top tips, tricks and advice to anyone looking to make big bucks online.

“I studied fashion at university and had a major interest, or addiction, to designer labels, bags and shoes,” he told the Manchester Evening News.

“I built up a little collection over time when I had more disposable income as I was working two part-time jobs at the time.

“But now I’m working full time and have rent, bills, etc. It made sense to sell some of my items and save for things like holidays and our wedding.

“I sold mainly bags and shoes at first, and then found there was a market for clothing like T-shirts and trousers that I didn’t think would be worth anything to anyone. Turns out they were.

“Other sites tend to have, or did have high fees after selling. This impacted my sales quite a lot, especially on the high-ticket items.

“You could be losing £40, £50, £60 per transaction, which just felt too high. Vinted didn’t have any fees so it made more sense to sell on there.”
