"Expecting that one to happen" - talkSPORT reporter shares exciting West Ham transfer claim

West Ham are still on course to sign Rennes centre-back Nayef Aguerd, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

David Moyes is trying to bolster his defensive numbers after of last season’s crisis and has identified the Frenchman as a potential addition.

Following a shortage of centre-backs towards the end of last season, which forced the likes of Ben Johnson and Aaron Creswell to cover, Moyes is clearly looking to act quickly and get players signed up before the start of pre-season.

According to the Daily Star, the Hammers boss is a fan of Everton’s Michael Keane, although West Ham are much further along in their attempts to sign Aguerd.

According to Football Insider, the London Stadium outfit are in ‘advanced talks’ with Rennes over the signing of the £25m-rated defender, who made 40 appearances in all competitions last season to help his side finish fourth in Ligue 1.

The report adds that West Ham are ‘increasingly confident’ of getting the 26-year-old over the line, with the defender already house-hunting in London ahead of his move to the Premier League.

West Ham have been interested in the Morocco international for more than 12 months and Crook expects the deal to be completed eventually.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I’m not convinced Michael Keane would be that attractive for West Ham if they’re trying to challenge for Europe again. I don’t think he had a brilliant season for Everton, maybe his best days are behind him.

“But Aguerd, they’re keen on him, they’ve scouted him quite a lot towards the back end of last season, they sent people over to France, so I’m expecting that one to happen.”
