West Ham transfer could scupper Leicester City plan for £8m deal

Leicester City are yet to make confirm any incoming transfers so far in the summer window as Brendan Rodgers seeks to revamp his squad ahead of the 2022/23 Premier League season.

Plenty of players have been tipped to join City since last season ended, but Rodgers' men are yet to seal any deals as the start of the new campaign approaches.

City are one of seven top-flight sides yet to complete a signing this summer alongside Brentford, Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Manchester United and Wolves. Rodgers needs to sell players if they are to do all of the business they want, with a right-sided winger and two central midfielders on his wish list.

One player whose future remains up in the air is Rennes Benjamin Bourigeaud. The Frenchman enters the final year of his contract at the Roazhon Park this summer and City have been linked with an £8 million move for the midfielder.

The Foxes have been credited with an interest in the versatile 28-year-old, with reports in France suggesting they could imminently make a move for the Rennes man.

However, something that may affect an attempt to move for Bourigeaud is West Ham United's signing of Nayef Aguerd. The Moroccan defender joined the Hammers on a five-year deal this month, with David Moyes' side reportedly paying €31 million (£26.6m), which could rise to €35m.

Ageurd, 26, made 40 appearances for Bruno Genesio's side last season as they finished fourth in Ligue 1 and were knocked out of the Europa Conference League Round of 16 by City. He formed a solid partnership with 22-year-old Warmed Omari in a defence that conceded the joint-third lowest goals in the France's top division.
