'Very encouraging for West Ham supporters' - Journalist thrilled by confirmed transfer news

West Ham United supporters can be ‘very encouraged’ by the recent ‘excellent’ transfer news out of the club, reports 90min journalist Toby Cudworth.

Ahead of what will be a very interesting 2022/2023 Premier League season, West Ham and manager David Moyes will be looking to make amends for their slight trip at the end of last campaign.

The east Londoners couldn’t quite make it to next year’s Europa League campaign after reaching the semi-finals of the competition over 21/22 – just missing out on a qualification place to Man United on the final day.

West Ham have so far shown some ambition with a move for one of Ligue 1’s best defenders last season in Morocco international Nayef Aguerd, with reports suggesting a forward is also on the agenda.

Now, journalist Cudworth of 90min claims Irons supporters can be further encouraged by an ‘excellent’ development at West Ham which has now been confirmed.

Indeed, the Hammers have now secured the signing of goalkeeper Alphonse Areola on a permanent deal from Paris-Saint Germain, with the reporter left thrilled.

He explained (via Twitter):

“#WHUFC very efficient so far in the transfer window. Areola is an excellent signing and takes care of the goalkeeping department for the next few years at least. Plenty more business to do, particularly in forward areas, but this is very encouraging for West Ham supporters.”

Sealing a deal for the 29-year-old has not only gifted Moyes strength in depth behind number one Lukasz Fabianski, it has also cemented his future heir for a fairly minimal mooted £10.5 million fee.
