"There's a few plates spinning" - Journalist now drops intriguing West Ham transfer claim
West Ham are likely to back David Moyes in the summer window, according to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
The Hammers failed to spend a penny in January, which ultimately played a major part in their failure to finish in the top six, but Moyes’ side are back in Europe, albeit the third-tier Europa Conference League, and Taylor is confident the Hammers boss will be given the funds to improve his squad.
West Ham were one of the big spenders last summer, bringing in five players which cost them more than £60m.
But following a missed opportunity in the winter, the London Stadium outfit are clearly not prepared to make the same mistake.
Having endured a defensive crisis for large parts of last season, which led to the likes of Ben Johnson and Aaron Creswell having to play centrally, Moyes’ first summer addition was a centre-back in the shape of Rennes ace Nayef Aguerd.
The Morocco international became a West Ham player following a £30m deal, putting him third on their all-time record arrival list.
Goalkeeper Alphonso Areola, who spent last season on loan in east London, has since become Moyes’ second arrival of the window and Taylor reckons that more will follow for the Hammers.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “What we see at the moment, from the outside looking in, it looks like they’re prepared to back him.
“I mentioned previously they had the club record bid for Darwin Nunez in January, which would suggest the money is there. Luis Diaz was a player they looked at as well, so there’s a few plates spinning so to speak.”
