Everton 'willing to sell' 6 ft 2 star at Goodison Park

Everton are willing to let Salomon Rondon leave Goodison Park, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The 6ft2 striker has started just once in the Premier League this season and looks to be down the pecking order under Frank Lampard.

The experienced frontman returned to the Premier League last summer on a free transfer having spent two years in China and a brief spell in Russia following his departure at Newcastle.

But Rondon was a bit-part player in his first season at Goodison Park, which saw him score just once, while Neal Maupay’s arrival has seen his chances restricted even further this term.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin also fit again, the 33-year-old doesn’t appear likely to play much football in the months ahead.

As a result, Football Insider claim that the ex-West Brom star has already been told he can find a new club when the January window opens.

The report claims that Rondon tried to sign for a Turkish club in the summer, although he was unable to secure a move to Adana Demirspor and other Super Lig sides before the market closed.

Regardless, Brown reckons that after contributing little of note since his arrival last year, he’s likely to leave.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Everton are certainly willing to let him go, it hasn’t really worked. It was Rafa Benitez who wanted him and that experiment just hasn’t really worked at all. Unfortunately, it’s not for the want of trying and he’s someone who’s put a shift in but he’s just not the player he was.

“He’s played more minutes than he thought he would get, or Everton would thought they would need to use him for, but it’s clear his form isn’t going to improve, he’s had enough chances to.”
