Chelsea 'don't want' to sell 'very talented' £22.5m star at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea do not want Callum Hudson-Odoi to go anywhere, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The 21-year-old winger is currently on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, but Brown says the west London club are against the idea of selling him permanently.

Under former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, despite being described as “very talented” by the German, Hudson-Odoi struggled to get a run of games.

Last season, for example, the English youngster made just 11 starts in the Premier League, though he did miss a large chunk of the campaign due to injury.

Still, Hudson-Odoi was not a player Tuchel heavily relied on, with the 49-year-old not handing him a single minute of football this term prior to his loan move to Leverkusen.

The above makes it no surprise that Hudson-Odoi decided to join Die Werkself, where he has already made seven starts in all competitions.

While he may not currently be a part of the club’s plans, Brown has told GIVEMESPORT that Chelsea are not keen on Hudson-Odoi leaving Stamford Bridge for good.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “From what I hear, because of his age and the fact that he can play in more than one position, Chelsea really don’t want to let Hudson-Odoi go anywhere.”

It is certainly a possibility. Graham Potter has now replaced Tuchel in the Stamford Bridge dugout, and he may decide that he wants to keep the £22.5m England international in his squad.

In fact, a return in January may not even be completely off the table, with Hudson-Odoi hinting that Chelsea do have the option to recall him in the winter transfer window.
