Everton interested in Manchester United forward Anthony Elanga after transfer deadline day approach

Everton are keen on signing Manchester United forward Anthony Elanga.

Elanga, 21, was close to joining Everton on loan on transfer deadline day in January but United blocked the move at the 11th hour.

Sweden international Elanga did not start again for United all season and the club have halved his valuation to £10million as they plan for a probable sale.

Sean Dyche was appointed Everton manager the day before the winter transfer deadline and he remains interested in recruiting Elanga.

Elanga has not scored for United since February 2022 and he has started in four of their last 57 games following the £85.51m arrival of Antony in September.

Sweden international Elanga has lined up once this calendar year - against Charlton in the League Cup on January 10 - and he was omitted from 10 of United's last 13 Premier League matchday squads last term.

Elanga last played in the league when he emerged late on in United's 7-0 thrashing at Liverpool on March 5. His most recent outing was a three-minute cameo in United's Europa League humbling by Sevilla on April 20.

Elanga, who made his debut in May 2021, has played 55 times for United and scored four goals. Although he made his debut under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he came to prominence during Ralf Rangnick's interim tenure, starting 16 times.

United manager Erik ten Hag started Elanga in their first win of last season against Liverpool and he kept his place for the following fixtures against Southampton and Leicester.

Everton have a long track record of signing players from United. Norman Whiteside, Andrei Kanchelskis, John O'Kane, Jesper Blomqvist, Tim Howard, Phil Neville, Louis Saha and Darron
