Delays building on M60 as lanes shut due to 'police incident'

Delays are building on a stretch of the M60 this morning with two lanes shut due to a 'police incident'.

Paramedics are also on the scene on the clockwise carriageway between junction 27 and junction 1 near Stockport. Two lanes are currently closed off.

Traffic is building with delays of at least 30 minutes currently. National Highways said in a tweet: "Due to a police-led incident, lanes 1 and 2 are closed on the #M60 clockwise between J27 and J1 near #Stockport.

"@NWAmbulance is working on scene. There are delays of at least 30 minutes on approach."

GMP later confirmed that officers were called to concern for the welfare of a woman. A GMP spokesperson said: "At approximately 8:45am today (Thursday 4 January 2024), officers were called to reports of a concern for welfare of a woman on the M60 near junction 27/junction 1.

"She has since been taken to hospital with injuries, although these are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing."
