Erik ten Hag masterplan for dream Man United windfall blocks nightmare Jadon Sancho scenario

Manchester United is looking a much happier ship this month than it has done for almost a full year at this stage.

Erik ten Hag appears reinvigorated by the new confidence entrusted in him from the boardroom and the Reds' camp looks a happy place. One particular source for this is the inclusion of Jadon Sancho back into the first team.

He was banished in September thanks to his outburst against the management after not being included in the squad which lost to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. A loan move to Borussia Dortmund followed in January where Sancho managed to regain some of the form which he had lost.

It was speculated that Sancho returning to United would be a disaster and like Mason Greenwood, albeit for very different reasons, he would need to be sold before pre-season properly began. Instead, Ten Hag has chosen the mature approach and drawn a line under the whole incident.

Many would have been sceptical about this willingness to forgive and forget but so far we have witnessed Ten Hag letting bygones be bygones. Sancho has featured in clashes with Rangers and Arsenal and there is an acceptance that he would be used as an option next month when the serious stuff begins.

This does not mean to say that United would not look to sell him if possible. It is thought the Reds want at least £40m for the winger and the latest reports on Monday morning suggest PSG are looking to seal a move for him.

At the beginning of the transfer window, the nightmare scenario was that Sancho would depart the club on loan in the summer because Ten Hag could not stand to have him around the camp due to their bust-up.
