Man United 'target' Danilo has already sent two clear messages to Erik ten Hag as 'price tag set'

Nottingham Forest star Danilo has spoken of his ability to block out pressure and his incredible ambition - two qualities that Erik ten Hag wants in his players.

The Brazilian only arrived in England last year for a reported fee of £16million and quickly became an important figure within Forest's midfield and played a major role in the club securing their Premier League status last season.

Danilo's performances have seen him become subject to reported interest from AC Milan and Manchester United, with the latter notably aiming to improve the quality of their engine room this summer as the 23-year-old would set United back £34million, according to TNT Sports.

Ten Hag has not shied away from publicly stating the high standards he requires from his players, admitting that it's important that those who wear the shirt of Manchester United possess a "great mentality" and an ability to "perform under stress" - two qualities that Danilo said he learnt during his time at Palmeiras.

In an interview with The Athletic, he said: "What I learned from all the managers was the value of remaining grounded — particularly from Abel Ferreira (who is still head coach of Palmeiras). He gave me my opportunity. He told us to have cold heads but always warm hearts. He told us to block out the noise and just focus on playing."

He also showed his winning mentality by insisting that he wants to help Forest mimic Brighton and Aston Villa by qualifying for European football despite their fight against relegation last season.
