Erik ten Hag has nominated four new players for Manchester United's tour of the USA

Manchester United visited Thailand and Australia on their pre-season tour last summer and Cristiano Ronaldo's absence was the story.

Ronaldo did not travel with the squad and Erik ten Hag, speaking in his second press conference as manager, outlined the forward was not for sale, whilst he also insisted his focus was on the players who had made the trip to the Southern Hemisphere.

United played Liverpool, Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa during that 2022 summer tour and youngster Alejandro Garnacho was the only outfield player in a squad list of 31 people not to be given a single minute.

There have been 12 months since that trip, which preceded an excellent first season for Ten Hag, and the personnel on this summer's upcoming tour of North America will be different, although Ronaldo will be absent again for obvious reasons.

United kicked off their pre-season with a 2-0 victory against Leeds in Oslo, Norway on Wednesday afternoon and they will face French side Lyon in Edinburgh next week before packing their bags and heading to the States a few days later.

Ten Hag picked a strong starting line-up to play Leeds at the Ullevaal Stadium, with at least four of those players likely to start against Wolves on the opening day of the Premier League season, and he made wholesale changes at half-time.

As expected, the team was overhauled at the break and the entire starting XI was replaced by academy players, who were responsible for winning the game 2-0 thanks to well-taken goals from Noam Emeran and Joe
