Erik ten Hag has another Manchester United concern to address vs Burnley

Erik ten Hag had plenty to ponder after Wednesday's defeat at Bayern Munich but the Manchester United boss will have been most concerned by the opening two goals.

United started their Champions League group stage clash incredibly positively, surprising just about everyone with their intensity and the way in which they ruffled Bayern feathers. The Bayern winger kicked into gear on 28 minutes, pinging the ball into Harry Kane and receiving it back in a pocket of space. His effort on goal was weak but somehow squirmed through a hapless Andre Onana, who planted his face in the turf for what seemed like an eternity.

The Reds goalkeeper didn't have very long to chastise himself before picking the ball out of his net again, with Serge Gnabry finishing well after Jamal Musiala danced across the Allianz Arena turf and found time to set up his teammate. This one wasn't Onana's fault, but it was 2-0 and that promising start felt a long way gone.

It's been a familiar pattern for United this season: an encouraging start precedes the concession of soft goals by unforced errors, allowing opposition teams to get a grip on the game. Ten Hag's side are then chasing and their vulnerable back-line becomes exposed.
