Erik ten Hag could show his ruthlessness at Manchester United vs Rangers
Manchester United began their pre-season with a listless 1-0 defeat to Rosenborg in Trondheim on Monday.
Just like last year, United's schedule has started with a game in Norway followed by a return to Edinburgh, only this time they face Scottish opposition having beaten Lyon last year.
Rangers and United have not met in any manner of match since the Champions League group stage in 2010. The friendly nature will evoke memories for some United fans of the team's journey north of the border in pre-season 30 years ago.
Eric Cantona was dismissed for a foul that was a warm-up act for that more clinical kick at Selhurst Park six months later.
Here are five things to look out for at Murrayfield today:
Change of plan
United travelled the day before their friendly defeat with Rosenborg and departed at an early enough time to watch the European Championship final in Trondheim.

At the time of writing, they are due to leave for Edinburgh today. The Scottish capital is a mere 214 miles away and a flight would barely take an hour.
United flew on the day of competitive games last season and that adjustment will be welcomed after the 24-hour stay in Norway for one of their most perfunctory friendlies in recent memory.
New squad additions?
It is perhaps too early for Leny Yoro to get a look-in but Andre Onana, Victor Lindelof, Antony and Amad should be restored to the travelling squad.
Harry Maguire has stepped up his fitness work this week but footage of him in team training has been scant, so he could be saved for Arsenal in Los Angeles next weekend.
Early-season ruthlessness?
