Erik ten Hag could get what he wants at Manchester United after Declan Rice to Arsenal transfer

Manchester United may need to play a waiting game with West Ham United if they want to generate funds.

The Hammers have seen a £20million bid for Harry Maguire rejected but are yet to return with a second offer. They also hold interest in Scott McTominay but have yet to formalise that with a bid.

United are not pushing Maguire out of the door, with Erik ten Hag happy for the England international to fight for his place. That said, if the right offer came along, there would likely be some movement.

Maguire is now fourth choice centre-back and was stripped of the captaincy this summer. His future remains uncertain, with the European Championships looming large next year.

Similarly, United would demand £40m for McTominay, who is valued as a squad player. Fred is expected to leave with Fulham interested and that could prompt the arrival of Sofyan Amrabat.

Kobbie Mainoo's injury could put the breaks on any exit for McTominay too. That said, it would be interesting to see United's response if West Ham tested their resolve.

The Hammers are yet break their duck in the transfer market this summer, with growing frustration from fans. After taking in £105m for Declan Rice, rival clubs know they have money to spend.
