Erik ten Hag has discovered a new Manchester United undroppable after Wolves win

In the build-up to Manchester United's season opener against Wolves at Old Trafford on Monday night, one of the questions that remained unanswered was: who would start at right-back?

Almost every other position within Erik ten Hag's expected XI was nailed down. Both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot had earned ample opportunities in pre-season and there was no clear favourite as to who would get the nod from the Dutchman for the curtain-raiser.

Wan-Bissaka ended last season at the top of the right-back pecking order following an unexpected resurrection, but Dalot started United's 3-1 win over RC Lens in their penultimate pre-season friendly, which was handled by the stronger of the two XIs Ten Hag deployed over the course of the final weekend of pre-season. Wan-Bissaka started the 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao in Dublin just over 24 hours later.

It meant plenty of debate and conversation centred around who would get the nod against Gary O'Neil's side. An hour before kick-off, everyone discovered the answer to the question they were looking for, with Ten Hag picking Wan-Bissaka.
