Erik ten Hag and Manchester United will have to make difficult but necessary Christian Eriksen call

Mason Mount's arrival has undoubtedly improved Manchester United's central midfield but may see the break up more often of the arguably the club's most creative trio at times last season.

Casemiro has established himself as a near undroppable for Erik ten Hag following his move to United last summer from Real Madrid. Though 31, it seems the Brazil international will continue to play an important role in the upcoming campaign in front of the defence.

Bruno Fernandes has been handed the captain's armband by Ten Hag for good after previous incumbent Harry Maguire lost his place in the team and was stripped of it this summer. The Portuguese was United's de facto skipper last season, taking the armband for the much of the campaign, and it is clear the midfielder will be a key player as the Reds seek to close the gap to the top of the Premier League.

Fred and Scott McTominay may have been passed by youngster Kobbie Mainoo in the pecking order and Christian Eriksen seems set to drop to the role of back up. That will not be an easy decision to make for Ten Hag, given what the Denmark international offers United.
