Ebbsfleet United manager Josh Wright reacts to 3-0 National League South win over Neil Warnock’s Torquay United

Ebbsfleet manager Josh Wright felt his team wanted the three points more than Torquay on Saturday.

The Fleet produced a classy performance to climb above their visitors and go fourth in National League South with a 3-0 victory at Stonebridge Road.

Wright felt the hunger and desire within his group was clear to see as they closed the gap on leaders Dorking Wanderers to eight points on day that saw the top three all defeated.

It’s now seven games without a win for Torquay, who were under the caretaker charge of Neil Warnock.

“I think we showed that there was a vulnerability within Torquay and there was a weakness within them at the moment and we wanted it more than them,” said Wright.

“We showed that in the way that we played, the way that we ran, in our eyes, in our body language, everything about us.

“We're going to need that in abundance from now to the end of the season.”

The Fleet boss felt his team benefited from a welcome free midweek coming into the game.

He also praised the impact the supporters had on the team at Stonebridge Road.

“There's a bit between their teeth at the moment and I love to see it,” stated Wright.

“I stood back on the training ground this week, all week, and I saw it, I felt it, but that's what we've done.

“We've stuck with the squad that we signed. We've brought Marcus Wyllie in to give us that extra bit of bite and one or two have gone out on loan at times, but what we haven't done is panicked at any stage. We haven't panicked and thought, we'll just go and sign A, B and C.
