Ebbsfleet United manager Josh Wright reacts to 4-0 win over AFC Totton in National League South and a red card for defender Ben Coker
Ebbsfleet manager Josh Wright praised his players after they finally delivered the result their performances had been threatening.
The Fleet thumped AFC Totton 4-0 in National League South on Saturday, scoring three first-half goals before adding a fourth early in the second half.
Their ruthless approach in front of goal meant there was no chance of injury-time heartache again for Ebbsfleet.
“I would have been annoyed if we conceded because I wanted the clean sheet, I pride myself on that, you know that,” said Wright.
“It's probably come at a really good time because of the last three results, so I thought they were brilliant.
“They were brilliant from start to finish, literally from minute one and it could and should have been more.
“But I can't complain, a 4-0 win and it puts us in a really strong position. I'm proud of them today, but we can't rest because the games come thick and fast, so we have to just keep going.”
Nothing has changed for Wright. It was still the same players, the same formation, the same attacking brand of football.
But after three draws in a row, which threatened to derail their promotion chase, the Fleet boss stuck to his principles and got an immediate justification.
“I understand, we're all emotional,” added Wright on their run of late equalisers. “I was angry, I was fuming with conceding those goals and the manner of them.
“Draws are draws, points are points, sometimes you respect it, but we know it could have been and should have been more.
“I know how close we were to getting those three points in all of those three games, even if it was just one or even two of them.
